The Traveling Art Gallery (T.A.G) is back!
We are delighted to announce the return of the Traveling Art Gallery (T.A.G) to Marshall Elementary!
If you are new to Marshall Elementary or have younger children who may not have yet experienced the program, you may ask what is the Traveling Art Gallery?
T.A.G. is a wonderful art appreciation experience that supplements our existing art education curriculum by introducing students to more famous artists, styles of art, and different cultures. Importantly, the program provides an additional opportunity for elementary students to develop their skills in communication, collaboration and critical thinking - skills important in every aspect of their education, not just in art class!
As volunteers are now permitted to return to MES we are now actively recruiting volunteers who will help us deliver this fun program.
What do volunteers do?
T.A.G. volunteers are assigned a specially selected, grade-level appropriate artwork to introduce to their class and lead a short discussion of the art work with the students. We have beautiful framed prints that will be made available to the classrooms and we will support you with background information on the artist and ideas for discussion. Volunteers do not need to ‘present’ rather they facilitate discussion and student responses to the selected works of art.
Volunteers visit classrooms and work with students for approximately 30 minutes.
- T.A.G. is a fun way to be involved in your child’s learning and the kids LOVE it!
- T.A.G. is NOT a practical art lesson and NO prior art training is needed - just enthusiasm!
- Our artwork information is all accessible online and so minimal preparation is needed.
- Clearances are NOT needed for T.A.G volunteers
- Sessions are short and scheduling is very flexible, which is great for those of you still working from home! Volunteers work directly with the class teachers to choose the time during the specified T.A.G. week that is mutually convenient.
When?
T.A.G. will be offered to classrooms during the following selected weeks
OCTOBER 28th - NOVEMBER 1st
FEBRUARY 10th - FEBRUARY 14th
MAY 5th - MAY 9th
